Finding Our New Normal #16

When cleaning a closet, I have found it works best to remove everything so that I can see what is no longer working for me. We have five days left in “Finding Our New Normal,” so this is a good time to eliminate those things in our spiritual
closets that are hindering us from moving forward with a fresh outlook. The Bible says—
And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind
[having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude],
Ephesians 4:23 (AMPC)
This is a good time to allow the Holy Spirit of God to show us areas that are not pleasing to Him—those areas where we are trusting ourselves rather than putting our faith in Him. Things like being opinionated—thinking we have all the answers, being negative—-and expecting the worse, or being fearful—and believing our volatile feelings rather than focusing on God’s promises to us.
Create in me a clean heart, O God.
Renew a loyal spirit within me.
Do not banish me from your presence,
and don’t take your Holy Spirit[a] from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and make me willing to obey you.
Psalm 51:10-12 (NLT)
Let’s use these next five days to ask God to point out the areas in our lives that need to be flushed out so the “joy of our salvation” can be restored to us—the kind of joy that this world needs right now!
