RESET - REGROUP - REJOICE
You might say, “Rejoice?? Are you sure about that? It doesn’t feel like I have very much to rejoice about.”
Every day when we wake up, it’s a new twenty-four-hour period, and we have an opportunity to start fresh. If yesterday wasn’t the greatest, today can be better! Today is a new day.
The Bible says that God designed each of our days before we were born, and His plan is good. (Jeremiah 29:11)
You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.
Psalms 139: 16 (NLT)
We left yesterday behind. It’s already in the past, and a new day has begun. “Every moment” of today lies before us so let’s get started.
Begin today by praying:
Father, I commit this day to You.
Cause me to think the way you think—
So I know what to do.
(based on Proverbs 16:3 AMPC)
Now, grab your To-Do list, and let's get some things down on paper. Writing things down helps so are thoughts are not swirling around in our heads, bumping into each other and causing chaos.
(NOTE: If you don't care to write, think of three things you want to accomplish today. And keep in mind that they don't have to be work-related. You can plan to go to the beach or plan to have a day of rest. When you accomplish your first three, you can add three more if you like.)
There! You have made your plans.
Let’s take a minute to review. At 12:00 midnight, it became a new day - reset! We have made a plan -- regroup! So what is next? It’s time to rejoice!
As you begin your day, be mindful of all the times that God has come through for you. Rehearse then in your mind and thank Him out loud. That will be enough to put you in a state of expectancy for the good things that will happen today. Things always go easier with a happy heart!
Also, be mindful that you are not alone. God is beside you, putting your day in order and giving you His wisdom in the form of a thought. There may even be times when it occurs to you, “Don’t do that.” God knows when we have something planned that won't work, and He is willing to save us all the time and trouble we were about to invest in that thing. Have you ever driven across the city -- only to find out it was a wasted trip?
I love spending the day with God, and I rejoice in everything He does for me as He and I do things together. How about you?
God does the reset, and we regroup and rejoice, knowing that it is going to be an amazing day!
I’d love to hear from you, so send me an email with your stories.
