STAY IN THE FLOW
Have you ever noticed how difficult it is to get back into the flow of a project after an interruption? Great effort is required to get started again. You have to work up motivation and create momentum so you can take back lost ground when it would have been so much easier if you would have somehow kept going. Take for instance that successful diet that you were on. The pounds and inches were coming off, you were feeling good about your progress, and then that pesky vacation came in and threw you off course.
It’s not impossible to get started again, but it takes great intention and effort. It would have been better to take a look at what the vacation entailed, committed your existing plan to God, and ask for His thoughts on how to adjust your eating plans accordingly. Yes, He is willing to work with you on anything and everything!
That’s what I love about “The 30-Second Prayer.” As we commit our plans to God, wherever we are and whatever we are doing, He will give us new ideas and a new way of doing things so we can maintain the successful flow of our lives.
Father, I commit my plans to You.
Cause me to think the way You think —
So I know what to do.
This resonates with me right now because I just found out that a family member passed away and I will be making a nine-hour road trip over the weekend to attend his funeral. The minute that I got the call, I began to think about how my plans would have to change.
I am confident that God knew this was coming. I also knew that He has all of my details worked out and because the Bible says —
So we are convinced that every detail of our lives
is continually woven together for good, for we are his lovers
who have been called to fulfill his designed purpose.
Romans 8:28 (TPT)
All I have to do is ask Him to “cause my thoughts to become agreeable to His will.” When I ask for His help, He is faithful to bring my thoughts into alignment with His will. I can still resist Him, but if I submit to His instructions, the situation becomes simplified, and success is the result. I am already anticipating the joy I will have on my trip back home. How can I be so sure? Because it has happened so many times before!
When “The 30-Second Prayer” becomes a lifestyle, every event becomes an adventure. If we invite God’s involvement into our plans, He will creatively work everything out. I have seen it happen many times, and I am always amazed and grateful. We do not have to abandon our original plans, but instead work with God to revise them — so that we can “be established and succeed” —no matter what the situation.
Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him;
He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and]
so shall your plans be established and succeed.
Proverbs 16:3 (AMPC)
