The Holy Spirit gives me a one-word title to each of my blog posts. When I asked what my word was for today, the thought popped into my mind to use the word “de-stress.” I wasn’t sure if that was even a word so I checked it out on dictionary.com
and sure enough, it was. It means: “to become or cause to become less stressed or anxious.”
At times our lives can be upside-down and backward, inside-out and sideways — but the good news is, there is a place
where we can meet with God each and every day — a place
where we can bring our stresses to Him and a place
where we can receive His wisdom, His guidance, and His assistance.
The more we commune with the Holy Spirit of God, the more peace we will enjoy. The news can be blaring at us, the boss may be demanding of us, our family may want more of us, but in all of our circumstances, we can turn to our Friend, the Holy Spirit (John 15:15), and He will help us access His secret place. It’s a place near Him where things come into order and a place where peace infiltrates the atmosphere. It’s there that He causes our thoughts to become
agreeable to His will
so that our lives function properly.
We learned in my last post that Proverbs 16:3 (AMPC) is our password
that grants us access to His page. I love that! God is not having an emotional meltdown, He’s not tired and worn out, and He is not discouraged. He knows exactly how He wants each of our lives to operate in any one 24-hour period. And when life piles up, He is right there to set things in order so we can experience His peace. Oh the joys of finding that place where we can de-stress and find our rest in Him.

If we truly want more of God in our lives, we have to be willing to make room for Him. And that’s not always easy. But we’re not expected to do it alone.
