Everything Working For Good

We just came through a year when we had a lot to figure out. How were we going to work from home, educate our kids, buy the necessities of life, etc? From my vantage point, I am not sure life is ever going to get simpler. However, that does not mean that we can’t streamline our lives so they function efficiently.
Stop and ask yourself if it is easier to manage your daily life with an overloaded schedule or one in which you have downsized to only include the most important things. The answer is pretty much a no-brainer.
We all had a chance to experience a minimal lifestyle this last year — one in which we had very few outside activities. In fact, most of us probably spent time with the people that meant the most to us. We also determined how to get our needs met in the most efficient way.
Now that we are experiencing more freedom, do we want to return to our former lifestyles? Maybe this is a good opportunity to reevaluate our activities so that we can do the things that are the most important. Spending our time wisely
will, in the end, bring us the most satisfaction.
I have an assignment for you. Make a list of six or seven things that you spend your time doing. [working, going to school, spending time with your spouse, your children, your parents, your friends, with God — to name a few.] How about spending time with yourself? When we spend a little time doing something that brings us joy each day, we experience personal satisfaction which if done on a regular basis, keeps us balanced.
Now that you have your list, draw a circle on a blank page and put “GOD” in the middle of the circle.* On lines that resemble spokes, put each individual item from your list above, beginning with the three most important things. Then add the remaining items.
When I did this, I realized right away that I had some reevaluating to do. I dropped off some things and rearranged others so I was spending time doing the things God designed for me
to do. This is when I experienced God’s outpouring of grace. My life just got easier and I felt I was being more effective.
I cannot find the word “synergy” in the Bible but there is a scripture that exemplifies what I think it means. It is found in The Passion Translation.
So we are convinced that every detail of our lives
is continually woven together for good,
for we are His lovers who have been called to
fulfill His designed purpose.

Fulfilling God’s unique purpose in every area of our lives will result in God’s grace upon us. It will be us and God working together.
