Today I am going to share with you a truth that was super helpful to me in my quest to keep moving forward. By the time you are reading this, “Thanksgiving Day” will be in your rearview mirror. I hope the day was a blessing to you. If you were with family and/or friends, you probably enjoyed a little more food than you normally eat. That is perfectly fine, but now it is time to return to your zone.
“Your zone” is the place where you know your body functions well. You may want to continue losing weight before Christmas, or maybe you just want to maintain your present weight by fine-tuning your choices. In both of these cases, there is a place
where this will happen, and it’s called “Your Zone.”
When I was dieting, it all seemed so futile. I would do well for a while, fall off the wagon, condemn myself, and then pursue a new diet and better exercise routine—in hopes that they would work. Please don’t ask me how many times I repeated that scenario!
Your “zone” is the place where you know you are making healthy choices in our four areas: Eating, hydrating, exercising, and sleeping. When those four areas are in sync with what your body needs, you are in “your zone.” You have peace because you are sowing healthy habits in obedience to the One who designed you. (Psalms 139: 13-16)
As you are regrouping today, spend time identifying your particular zone. I highly recommend that you do that today
because the longer you wait, the harder it will be, and you certainly don’t want to start all over. Begin by asking yourself two questions:
- Where am I now?
- Where do I want to be on January 2nd?
The good news is that we can identify where we are, make a plan that we think might work, and then commit it to God and ask for His help. Each successful day will lead to the next, and by the new year, you will be celebrating your new lifestyle—giving thanks to God for His help!
Commit your actions to the Lord,
and your plans will succeed.
