In my last post, I talked about having a “working application” of Proverbs 16:3. That’s when we submit our questions, our concerns, and even our plans to God and He gives us His thoughts so that we can successfully move forward. This kind of relationship is one that is developed over time. It might begin with, “I wonder if God hears me,” but it will lead to— “I don’t want to go a day without personally acknowledging God’s presence."
This morning I watched a miracle testimony this couple experienced. After telling their story, the wife expressed how important it was to be familiar with hearing the voice of God. She said it was her practice to talk to Him about everything and receiving His thoughts in return.
She shared her story of an incident that happened while working in an exclusive hotel in Sweden. One of the hotel guests asked to have an expensive shirt ironed for a meeting he would be attending that afternoon. He instructed her to be careful because the shirt was worth 100# (or $130.08). She proceeded to iron the shirt but the tip of her iron got too close to the insignia and it caused navy blue ink to surge across the shirt.
Immediately she said, “Oh God, what am I to do?” When she stopped hyperventilating, one word popped into her head. That word was “milk.” She took the shirt to the hotel kitchen and proceeded to soak it in milk. Thirty minutes later, she looked and it was perfect. She washed the shirt, carefully
ironed it, and delivered it to its owner.
When we practice talking to God in simple things, when the big things come along, our working relationship will already be actively established.

If we truly want more of God in our lives, we have to be willing to make room for Him. And that’s not always easy. But we’re not expected to do it alone. Sometimes we need to refresh the screen of our hearts to see clearly again. When we lay down our own plans and fully trust God, our vision begins to change. Beginning the day with God puts us in a posture of surrender. We release our plans, seek His wisdom, and step into the peace that comes from trusting His direction.
