The Bible says that God has a “good plan” for our lives. That’s because God’s very nature is one of “goodness.” The question is—do we believe that?
For the sake of clarity and simplicity, I am going to encourage you to choose
to believe in God’s goodness, if you are not sure.
After years of meeting with God, I am convinced that “God is good and good is what He does.” Nobody—or no circumstance can move me off of this truth. Why?? Because of the peace that comes from knowing and believing what the Bible says.
Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us
from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens.
He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.
James 1:17 (NLT)
God does not change or turn His back on us.
So you might wonder why bad things are happening all around us? Allow me to share the following illustration:
The classroom teacher is put in charge of his class, but his students are doing their own thing and not listening to their teacher. A chaotic environment hinders them from having a successful educational experience. If all the students respected their teacher, they would be good listeners so they could be successful.
If we respect God by submitting our plans to Him and asking for His input, He will help us arrive at a successful outcome. It is then that we have the confidence that things will go well for us.
NOTE: If you have my book, refer to Pgs. 30-32 where I tell the story of buying a house without committing our plans to God for His approval. Thankfully, it ended well but we could have avoided a lot of emotional turmoil and disappointment.

If we truly want more of God in our lives, we have to be willing to make room for Him. And that’s not always easy. But we’re not expected to do it alone. Sometimes we need to refresh the screen of our hearts to see clearly again. When we lay down our own plans and fully trust God, our vision begins to change. Beginning the day with God puts us in a posture of surrender. We release our plans, seek His wisdom, and step into the peace that comes from trusting His direction.
