Finding Our New Normal #7
My “meetings” with God began many years ago. I would drag myself out of bed while the house was quiet. I wanted to be intentional but I knew that I was going to need some coffee to kickstart my brain before any meeting could take place. Coffee in hand, I situated myself in the sunroom and pretended that God was there. The truth was—He was there! It took me a while to recognize His presence but as time went on, I knew He would be waiting for me in the sunroom each morning and I wasn’t about to miss this time with Him.
If you have followed me for very long, you know that Proverbs 16:3 became a game-changer for me.
Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him;
He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will , and] so
shall your plans be established and succeed.
Proverbs 16:3 (AMPC)
The shelves of bookstores and libraries are filled with books that promise success, but I believe that this scripture is the greatest key to success. It’s so simple, yet it has the power to produce results if we do our part.
And what is that?
- Meet with God at the beginning of your day.
- Commit your plans to God for the day. (If you have no plans, just commit your entire day to Him.)
- Thank Him that He promises to orchestrate your thoughts in a way to produce success—whether at work or play, whether you go or stay.
If you do this consistently, you will be developing a partnership with God. As you practice in the small things, you’ll be ready when those big, important decisions need to be made.
If you have my book, The 30-Second Prayer That Changes Everything, read pages 21-26 where I tell the story of planning way too many things for one day.
