We’ve been talking about surrendering our plans to God, the Architect of our day, (Psalms 139:16) and allowing Him to change our plans to come into alignment with what He wants for us. God tweaks our plans with a simple idea and when we follow His suggestion, we are established in His will. (Proverbs 16:3 AMPC)
The definition of “tweak”
is “to make a minor adjustment.” The change might be so minor that it can be made quickly and easily — and the result is the establishment of order which always results in peace.
Let me explain. I had something that I thought I should do weighing on me for several weeks. It wasn’t a huge thing, but after about thirty days, it had morphed into a growing obligation. Because it involved other people, I not only had to make it work for me, I had to consider how it would work for others.
I spent a lot of time mulling over my options only to determine that none of them were working. No matter what I came up with — it all seemed to fall flat. The obligation
however, continued to grow in my head. (Hint: Be careful what you feel obligated to do.)
After 30 days of going back and forth from—
“Trying to make it work” to “That’s not going to work,”
I decided to back off and allow God to help me put it together. Almost immediately I had a thought I did not think (aka a God-thought).
“Don’t do it at all!”
Wow! That wasn’t even one of my options!
In a moment of time, I was relieved of 30 days of tension between what I expected of myself and what God really wanted me to do. In just a few simple words, God tweaked my plans. He was there all the time just waiting for me to ask for His help.
Hopefully, next time I will recognize the problem right away and not let it escalate inside my head. What a waste of brain-power, energy, time. God knew exactly what I should do — or in this case what not to do.

Effective prayers don’t have to be lengthy or complicated. Prayer is talking; it is our means of communicating with God using our own words. He recognizes each individual’s voice, so we can all feel comfortable speaking to Him. When something in our lives becomes dysfunctional, we can surrender that area to God and ask Him to show us His ways.

We can spare ourselves a lot of trouble, heartache, confusion, exhaustion—and not to mention wasted time and money—by inviting God into the very start of each day.
