Thy Kingdom

Over the years Christians everywhere have prayed what is commonly called, “The Lord’s Prayer.” It is actually the prayer that Jesus gave His disciples, which has been passed on to us in Matthew 6. This is a portion of what Jesus said when the disciples asked how they should pray.
9 “Pray, then, in this way:
Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
On earth, as it is in heaven.”
Matthew 6:9-10 (NASB1995)
So what is
“the kingdom?” One day I asked God what the word “kingdom” meant, and immediately I received a thought I did not think.
(I love when those thoughts come right away!) He said—
“The kingdom is My way of doing things.”
When “God’s way of doing things” is in full manifestation, everything functions perfectly, which is all the time in heaven. Instead of conflict, confusion, and contention — to name a few, there is peace, joy, and love — again, to name just a few.
In the prayer He gave us, He said to first acknowledge God and honor His name, and then He goes on to invite us to ask for His kingdom to come into our lives here on earth.
Really?? That’s amazing!
So what if we prayed, “God, Your kingdom come into my relationships." "Your kingdom come into my body." "Your kingdom come into my finances,” etc.
God, being the wonderful Father that He is, wants everything in our lives to be fully functional — not so we can gloat in how good we are, but so we can be grateful for how good He is.
So what area of your life is not “fully functioning” right now?
I encourage you to commit it to God and say, “God, Your kingdom come into ____________, Your will be done on earth — in my life, as it is in heaven.”

When we talk to God about our concern, the Bible says we can expect that God will cause our thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and then we’ll know what to do. It’s not as hard as we think. As we spend time with God, it will become our key to success.
