YIELD

In my subdivision, they're many roundabouts. In simple terms, the driver has to slow down, look to the right, and yield to oncoming cars. This maneuver causes the drivers to be safe and accident-free.
We can apply the concept of yielding to being successful in our daily lives. In my last post, I explained the process for success.
- Make the plan
- Submit the plan to God and ask for His approval
- Slowly begin to carry out the plan
- Being sensitive to making necessary recalibration
The third step says slowly
move forward. We move slowly because we are listening
(or making room) for God’s instructions. I can be heading for the door, my purse in hand, with the intentions of going grocery shopping when a thought I did not think enters my mind — Don’t go today!
God is causing my thoughts to become agreeable to His will. (Proverbs 16:3 AMPC) I recognize the thought is from God because I had no intention of delaying my trip to the store. (By the way, I find out the next day that grocery shopping fit neatly into my schedule and my favorite kind of ice cream is buy one/get one free. I smile for two reasons. One that I know God is partnering with me, and two that I have two kinds of ice cream to offer my guests on Saturday night!)
Not a big deal, you say? What about if I am heading for the door with my purse in hand to go to the hospital across the city only to find out that the person I was going to see was dismissed that morning. Or what if I am about to invest in a stock that is not the best choice? Or if I am about ready to purchase a plane ticket to Florida in three months only to find out at the time of my flight that a hurricane is headed for that area?
God sees everything and as any good father would, He wants His children to be successful. If we yield to Him, He promises to cause us to think the way He thinks concerning every plan that we have.
I call yielding my plans to God an adventure. There may be some twists and turns, but He causes me to be delighted and thankful in the end!

As long as we invite God to cause our thoughts to be agreeable with His will, there is no room to feel overloaded. As we practice committing our plans to God, it gets easier and more natural.

We can spare ourselves a lot of trouble, heartache, confusion, exhaustion—and not to mention wasted time and money—by inviting God into the very start of each day.
