What if I told you that we have God’s undivided attention?
At times God’s promises seem
too good to be true, but let’s see what the Bible says:
Come close to God, and God will come close to you.
James 4:8 (NLT)
My heart has heard You say, “Come and talk with Me.”
And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”
Psalm 27:8 (NLT)
And we are confident that God hears us whenever
we ask for anything that pleases Him.
1 John 5:14-15 (NLT)
These are just three of many promises stating that God hears us when we talk with Him with a submitted heart. I have found this to be true so many times. One day these words came into my thoughts, “I will be to you as personal as you want me to be.”
This truth motivated me to develop a “personal” time with God at the beginning of each day. At first, I did not sense His presence at my meeting, but I did enjoy the fact that I was doing my part. One morning a few weeks later as I walked down the hallway to my sunroom (coffee in hand), I had a vivid sense that God was waiting for me there. This took my motivation to the next level. It has been over thirty years and I wouldn’t think of beginning the day without my meeting with Him. It began as a good idea and evolved into a relationship that I was not willing to do without.
It wasn’t until twenty years later that God spoke
to me through our foundational promise — Proverbs 16:3. This is when I learned that I could partner with Him and be successful on purpose.
If you have already applied this promise to your daily life, you know that God waits to meet with us, listen to us, and partner with us so that we can enjoy the success that He is so willing to give. We, in turn, can joyfully share His love and caring concern with a world that desperately needs the peace that only He can give.

Beginning the day with God puts us in a posture of surrender. We release our plans, seek His wisdom, and step into the peace that comes from trusting His direction. When things feel overwhelming, peace has to be a choice. God offers us a peace that settles our hearts and shapes how we treat others. ‘ Peace on earth, goodwill to men ’ is a reminder to let that peace live in us—and move through us.
