Day 20—-Consistency Is The Key

Consistency is very important when it comes to developing a lifestyle of fellowship with God. It means that we intentionally design our daily routine to have a meeting with God before the day begins to unfold. (Refer to Day 14, entitled “Living On Purpose,”)
At first, when you are developing this new protocol, it may seem like work, but very soon you will enjoy the peace that comes as God sets your day in order. Each day you will experience His presence—causing your thoughts to become organized so that you know what to do and even what not to do. Nothing is more frustrating than spending your time doing something that you will soon regret—and may still have to finish.
I love the times when I discover that what I am about to do isn’t necessary— or maybe there is a simpler, more effective way to accomplish it. I personally don’t want to waste my time doing useless things when I could use that time for doing something enjoyable.
Since I have been giving my plans to God, my life has become a nice balance of time for work and also time for rest and relaxation. When things tilt too far one way or the other, I know just what the problem is—I am doing my own thing in my own way. It doesn’t take me long to realize I need to stop everything and humbling ask for God’s help. He doesn’t want us to be overloaded and stressed out with the cares of the day.
Casting the whole of your care
[all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all]
on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.

The benefits that you experience when you consistently meet with God will motivate you to be even more intentional. Soon you will sense a shift taking place where you can’t wait to get up and begin the day knowing you and God will be spending it together. Each day becomes a joy, not only because you are more successful but because your relationship with God has become more personal. The more we make room for God at the beginning of our day, the more of Him we will experience during our day!
