Day 22—A Thought You Did Not Think

In my last post, I said, “Our thought processes have limitations but God has unlimited wisdom waiting for us.” So how do we receive God’s wisdom? How does it get from God to us?
Our Proverbs 16:3 promise says this in The Passion Translation:
“Before you do anything, put your trust totally in God and not in yourself. Then every plan you make will succeed.”

True partnership means working together with Him by positioning ourselves to follow after
Him, the All-Wise God who designed our plans so we can experience success. (Psalms 105:7, Psalms 139:16, Ephesians 2:10)
It is easy to assume that our plans are the right ones. That’s why it’s important to be intentional about following God’s leading. We do this by allowing God to be up close and personal with us. I like to “talk” with Him as I move throughout the day. Here are examples of what I might say:
Show me Your way today.
Cause my thoughts to agree with Your will.
Keep me from complicating things, God.
Should I go ahead or stay put?
Am I on the right track or heading in the wrong direction?
What is my next step?
Okay, let’s assume we have fully committed our plans to Him, and we are attempting to follow His lead. As long as we stay in this posture, we can begin to slowly move forward with our plans, being mindful that He is available to guide us. Now it’s time to receive from Him.
One day I was listening to a podcast of one of my Bible teachers and I heard her answer another listener’s question, “What does the voice of God sound like?” Her answer gripped my heart. She said, “God’s voice sounds like a thought that you did not think.”
Have you had something occur to you that seemed to come out of nowhere—a thought that just seemed to pop into your head—a thought that just seemed right but was not your own? That’s God causing our thoughts to come into alignment with His will.
IF we are committed to God, we can expect to hear His direction, His ideas, and even His words of warning. A thought that we did not think. That’s God—leading us to success.

We can spare ourselves a lot of trouble, heartache, confusion, exhaustion—and not to mention wasted time and money—by inviting God into the very start of each day.
