Day 23—A Thought You Did Not Think

I hope you can see by now that prayer is talking to God using our voice—not only in our quiet times with Him at the beginning of the day but throughout the entire day. I think He loves to spend the day with His kids. I know I certainly do, but how would I feel if we were together but we didn’t talk??
Submitting our plans to Him early in the day and talking to Him throughout
the day causes us to be in sync with Him. I call this “doing life together.” God has so much for us if we will lean into Him. Here’s what the Bible says about His goodness towards us:
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”
But it was to us that God revealed these things by His Spirit. For His Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (NLT)
That’s what I desire, don’t you? I don’t want to always figure everything out for myself and hope for the best only to be frustrated and defeated because I didn’t know what I was doing. Instead, I want to present my ideas to God and ask Him to give me “thoughts I did not think.” In other words, His thoughts on my situation. (Note: If this is your first time on my blog, you might want to read Day 22 first!)
Prayer is an exchange. We give God or our plans and we ask Him for His advice. We can even ask for more details if we need clarification on a matter. Like any well-meaning father, He loves to give us understanding so we can be successful.
When I first began to put these concepts to the test to see if they would work in my life, things began to change. Those situations that seemed difficult before, were now taken care of with ease. I got a lot more done most efficiently and I loved it!
The key to enjoying successful days is beginning each one with God. If you are new to prayer, try praying like this—
Father, I commit my day to You.
Cause my thoughts to agree with Your will—
So I know what to do.
And then wake up and do it again tomorrow!
