Day 29—-What Was Your Highlight?

Our “30 Day” journey is coming to a close and I don’t know about you, but these last 30 days have flown by! It seems like I just began writing my daily posts and now this timeframe is over.
Last night during a moment of introspection, I had this question come up in my thoughts:
What good things have come out of these last 30 days?
Immediately
the answer came to me!! There was no question—this answer was the highlight of all the good things that happened during April while we were for the most part under quarantine.
About 55 years ago, my older brother left our home area and took a job in nearby Minneapolis, Minnesota. Several years after that, his work took him to Florida where he and his wife currently reside. Over the years we have kept in contact and had occasional visits.
At the beginning of April, I was struggling with a generic website that was giving me all kinds of fits. One day my brother, who builds websites for several clients, called me with a few suggestions. This quickly (I mean very
quickly) evolved into him offering to build me a new website. I had no idea what a generous offer this was until we began the process.
My brother and I spent hours
on the phone during the next week as he built my website and added additional pages and links so that the site would be efficient and attractive. I finally get
why having a website built is an expensive endeavor. It’s not only because of all the hours but also the expertise and patience it takes. I had no idea!! It takes a special person—and I am delighted that during this time I found out just how special my brother is to me and so many others.
This was by far the highlight of “good things” that I experienced in the month of April. Also, I talked to my family, friends, and neighbors more (from a distance), I read two books, watched a six-part documentary of Kathie Lee Gifford touring the Holy Land, learned to order groceries and stamps, cleaned my landscaping,…….and the list goes on!

Beginning the day with God puts us in a posture of surrender. We release our plans, seek His wisdom, and step into the peace that comes from trusting His direction. When things feel overwhelming, peace has to be a choice. God offers us a peace that settles our hearts and shapes how we treat others. ‘ Peace on earth, goodwill to men ’ is a reminder to let that peace live in us—and move through us.
