DIGGING A LITTLE DEEPER
In my last post, I talked about inviting God to help us think the way He thinks so that we see our daily “situations” from His perspective. Then when we react, it will be in a Christ-like manner.
God is calling us to reflect His nature at all times. Of course, we won’t be perfect because of our human nature. However, if we invite God to help us think the way He thinks, we will begin to recognize our wrong attitudes, our wrong mindsets, etc.
In Philippians, the fourth chapter, Paul instructs the Philippians in how to live their daily lives. Here are some key phrases:
- Show consideration for others.
- Don’t worry about anything.
- Thank God for all He has done.
- Fix your thoughts on what is true.
- Rejoice in what is good.
That is a pretty tall order, but we could, at least, start working towards these goals. Decluttering our homes takes time, but recognizing our wrong responses and making the necessary changes is also a process.
In my house decluttering project, I experience more peace when I get rid of the things that weigh me down. Instead of feeling stressed by too many things to stumble over, I find myself smiling when I walk into an orderly room filled with things that I enjoy.
So, let’s go back to our “30-Second Prayer”—
Father, I commit this situation to You.
Cause my thoughts to agree with Your will—
So I know the right thing to do!
Are you ready for God to point out some areas that you need to declutter? If so, the joy of freedom awaits you!
