THE EYE OF THE STORM
As we attempt to navigate through days that seem uncertain, let’s remember that God has given us a promise that will keep us in His perfect will.
Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him;
He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will,
and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.
(Proverbs 16:3 AMPC)
This scripture holds the key to being successful in every area of our lives. God invites us to ask Him to cause our thoughts to become agreeable to His will, in every situation we face and every decision that we make. No matter what is going on around us, no matter how hectic and uncertain life becomes, we can ask for His thoughts, follow His instructions, and experience His peace. Living in partnership with God results in “Living the life you love — one moment at a time.”
Sound familiar? It is the tagline on my book, The 30-Second Prayer That Changes Everything.” (See link below.)
Is it really possible to “live the life you love” all day — every day?
I think if we were really good at committing our plans to God all day - every day, we would be amazed at the results. But don’t take my word for it. Apply this Holy Spirit-led prayer to your day and you will experience for yourself how involved God wants to be in your life.
Father, I commit this day to You.
Cause me to think the way You think—
So I know what to do.
Recently the Holy Spirit also gave me the following words in the form of an additional prayer.
Help me to stay in the secret place with You—
Where there is peace and
I know what to do.
(Based on Psalms 91:1, Isaiah 26:13, Isaiah 30:21)
How personal is that?
God is a good Father, and He doesn’t want us to feel overwhelmed, fearful or hopeless. Our thoughts can be like a hurricane that comes ashore — flitting here and there and doing damage everywhere. It can be scary and make us feel insecure, but there is a place in the center of a storm where we can experience total peace.* When our thoughts agree with God’s will, we will feel that everything is going to be alright.
Whenever we have the opportunity to entertain negative thoughts, we can pray, “ “God, cause me to think the way You think.” As we rely on God to give us His thoughts, in every situation, it won’t belong before His peace settles us down and we can move forward with confidence that—
God’s got this!

NOTE:
*The “eye” is the calmest section of any hurricane. The eye is calm because the strong surface winds that converge towards the center never reach it.
