LETTING IT GO
In this day and age, when things are uncertain and everything seems to be changing, we can encounter multiple opportunities to worry. We can be anxious about our future, about our family, about our finances, to name a few. These opportunities may present themselves, but the good news is, we don’t have to take the opportunity! Instead, we can choose to turn to God and ask for His thoughts. He knows the plans He has for us — plans to prosper us and plans to give us a hope and a future. (Read Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)
The Bible says —
This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.
It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.
Hebrews 6:19 (NLT)
Our soul is where our thoughts, emotions, and choices reside. If we commit our worrisome situations to God and allow Him to give us His thoughts, we can make successful choices.
The more we
practice committing our daily lives to God, the more He will reveal His will to us. Worry drains us, but God's wisdom empowers us. And, yes, He does care about the garage door that won't go up and the child who had conflict with a friend at school. Nothing is too big or too small for God. If it's important to us, it’s important to Him.
Let's practice —
Father, I commit this situation to You.
Cause me to think the way You think —
So I know what to do.
This anointed prayer is based on our precious promise from Proverbs 16:3.
Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him;
He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and]
so shall your plans be established and succeed.
Proverbs 16:3 (AMPC)
Letting go is not always easy because we have been to take care of ourselves. Trusting God takes practice. As we get to know Him more intimately, we will talk to Him like a trusted friend, expecting that He will cause our thoughts to line up with His will.
Several years ago, God gave me the revelation of Proverbs 16:3 and began training me to apply it to my daily life. Praying the 30-Second Prayer for the little things conditioned me to trust Him with the bigger things. One day, when I had something weighing heavy on my heart, these words came into my thoughts:
“Whatever you turn over to Me, I will take care of for you.”
These words were spoken by a loving Father who cares for His children. It was almost like God was standing beside me saying, “Here, let me take care of that for you.”
Do you have something that is weighing on you right now? if so, say these words out loud —
“Whatever I turn over to You — You will take care of for me.”
The more you say it, the more you will believe it. In time, it will be natural for God’s words to roll off of your tongue into the situation at hand. Practice releasing every worrisome situation to God, asking for His thoughts, and praising Him for one successful outcome after the other!
NOTE: Forward this to a friend so that they too can live the life they love — one moment at a time!
