There are just a few days left before Christmas, and maybe you feel like you are falling behind. When I feel like I have run out of ideas, time, momentum, etc., I get a picture of Michael Jackson’s “Moon Walk.” It looks like I am walking forward, but I am still in the same spot. I have put my best foot forward, but I am not going anywhere. UGH! I hate that!
We start with a plan. We may even commit our plans to God, but as time goes on, we default
to our own best efforts. How long do we have to “Moon Walk” until we recognize that it’s not working?
NOW
is always the perfect time to initiate our “Powerful Proverbs Prayer.”
Father, I commit this __________ to You.
Cause me to think the way You think—
So I know what to do.
Each of us can fill in the blank. Some examples might be—
- I commit this day to You.
- I commit this decision to You.
- I commit this situation to You.
- I commit this project/task to You.
Too simple? Hopefully, by now, we realize that God cares very much about our success in the little things as well as the big things. The Bible tells us that He wants to work in everything.
And we know that God causes everything
to
work together for the good of those who love God and are
called according to his purpose for them.
Romans 8:28 (NLT)

of our lives is continually woven together to fit into God’s perfect plan…”
As we continually
partner with God, we will move forward and successfully complete all our Christmas preparations. We might even say, “Wow, that was easy!”
