GETTING INTO HEAVEN’S RHYTHM

We have all been at the end of something at some time or another. Maybe you are at the end of a career, the end of a project, or at the end of a trip, and you are not sure what to do next. It can be a major event, or like me — a minor one that needs a little motivation.
Yesterday I arrived home after four days away. I immediately went into “regrouping” mode by unpacking, doing laundry, and checking my calendar for what lay ahead for the new week. I went to bed feeling prepared for this morning. The only problem is that I had been “off the grid” (or shall I say off the regular routine) and it was difficult to get started again.
I began the day with a verse from my daily devotional which says—
Great is His faithfulness;
His mercies begin afresh each morning.
Lamentations 3:23 (NLT)
A thought I did not think entered my mind. Not only are His mercies new every morning, but so is a realization of His presence. When we acknowledge Him and ask for His strength and direction, He's right there to get us into His rhythm -- whether it be a new day, a new responsibility, or a new season of life.
For we are God’s masterpiece.
He has created us anew in Christ Jesus,
so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
There is a plan for us in heaven for each one of our days (Psalms 139:16), whether it be to mow the lawn, visit a friend, begin the new work project, or step into a new season of life. It’s up to us to get ourselves into the rhythm of heaven.
Many of you know where I will be taking you next. That’s right — straight back to Proverbs 16:3 and the “30 Second Prayer.”
Father, I commit this day to You.
Cause me to think the way You think—
So I know what to do.
Now it’s time to get moving in what you know to do. As you do, allowing God to interject His thoughts into your mind, you will find the motivation and the direction to move forward.
And on that note, I am about to conclude this blog post which was the first thing that God instructed me to do after being away for a few days. Now that I have completed this step, I am motivated to move forward. That powerful “30 Second Prayer” once again has set everything in order according to the plan of heaven.

We can spare ourselves a lot of trouble, heartache, confusion, exhaustion—and not to mention wasted time and money—by inviting God into the very start of each day.
