We have turned the corner into a new year, and if you are like me, you are making plans for a new way of living after what we dealt with in 2020. So how do we actually shrug off of the old and step into a new and better way of living? How about—
Father, I commit this year (2021) to You.
Cause me to think the way You think—
So I know what to do.
To be more specific, let’s also mark our calendars to commit each month to God, and also each day to Him. Once a week — usually Sunday evening or Monday morning — I review the week ahead. What responsibilities do I have and what commitments have I made? This helps me to see if I have too much going on in any one day. I can also determine if there is a more efficient way of flowing through the week. I have discovered that when I plan well, I have extra time to relax and do something I enjoy.
I haven’t started designating the first day of the month to review my calendar, but doesn’t that sound like a good idea? I am going to set a reminder each month to have a meeting
with God and ask for His help for whatever lies ahead. If we apply the above prayer for our monthly meeting, it gives God a chance to align us according to His will so we will not be caught off guard when something unexpected comes up. In this way, we have the opportunity to flow over or around obstacles in front of us.
What would our New Year’s Eve, 2021, look like if we did that for the next nine months? One of my favorite promises from God’s Word is—
“You crown the year with a bountiful harvest;
even the hard pathways overflow with abundance."
Psalm 65:11 (NLT)
Let’s purpose to hold regular meetings with God and believe BIG for a year of an abundance of innovative ideas, healthy habits, productivity — and that “new and better way of living” that God has for us!

This tension could cause loss of sleep, strained relationships, and even drained bank accounts. As Christians, we can come to God with all our concerns and He will help us orchestrate our lives so all the right things will fit together.”
