TIME TO DECLUTTER
In my last blog-post, I talked about “exercising” our faith to create some new habits at the beginning of the year. Another thing that people talk about in January is “decluttering” their homes, offices, cars, etc. It feels good to downsize and put things in order as we begin a new year.
One of the by-products that I have experienced with praying our “30-Second Prayer,” (see below) is that when I commit my plans to God and ask for His thoughts, He counsels me.
You might ask, “What kinds of things are you talking about?”
Here are some of my examples:
“Karol, you are spending time doing things that don’t really matter. Try doing the three most important things at the beginning of your day so you don’t have to carry them around day after day.” Or—
“Karol, I hear you saying, ‘I’ll take care of that later,’ a lot.” Or—
“Karol, you are wasting valuable time and energy worrying about things that I could be helping you with.”
As I choose to heed the Holy Spirit’s counsel, I find myself eliminating regrets, sorrow, frustration, and stress. So what does that leave me with? Time, energy, joy, success, and a grateful heart — to name just a few!
And now to Him who can keep you on your feet,
standing tall in His bright presence, fresh and celebrating—
to our one God, our only Savior, through Jesus Christ,
our Master, be glory and majesty.
Romans 15:13 (MSG)
How’s that for beginning a new year?
Father, I commit this (day) to You.
Cause me to think like You think—
So I know what to do!
